If you know me well, it's no surprise that a chicken burger is the way to my heart. However, the meat alone isn't going to cut it. Every burger is best served with a combination of mouthwatering sauces, salads; and for me, a slice of cheese is just the cherry on top. Burger UK did not fail to impress.
I ordered the deep fried chicken thigh steak burger. I rarely opt for thigh unless I'm at Nando's craving a sunset burger, but judging by the endless praise this restaurant receives, I couldn't imagine making the wrong decision. Not to mention the fact that all of Burger UK's produce is fresh and organic, so I felt less guilty about my choice of chicken. Nonetheless, I eat a lot of burgers, and this has to be at the top of my list. After just one bite, I was lost in the taste. The burger only comes with american cheese at your demand for an extra £1, which of course, I went ahead with, and it honestly completes it. I'd 100% recommend adding cheese, even if you're not a huge fan of it. I mean, it is the chefs recommendation after all. The mayonnaise was the simplest, yet most delicious touch, together with the cheese. Not to mention the lettuce, which gave the burger a nice crunch together with the fried chicken.
I don't have any complaints and would give it a solid 10. For the price, it's very filling. Although, it is quite messy and a tad greasy, so I suggest keeping it in the paper bag whilst eating.
Fries are a must. I can't think of a time I've ever ordered a burger without fries, no matter how strict the diet. My meal just isn't complete without it. Although, I'll admit, I ate these before my burger came as we requested to receive them first due to the long (but tolerable) wait. However, I've had better. I expected the fries to be thicker, which was no fault of the restaurants, but simply my poor judgement. I tend to trust my vision far too much when reading the menu, and end up disappointed.
I'm not at all body shaming these fries - all shapes and sizes are delicious! I just prefer thicker, 'steak' fries with cheese. You need a good balance of cheese and potato, which is much harder when they're thinner. As much as I love cheese, I love me some potato. I'd give these cheesy fries a 7/10.
Here's a cheeky shot of one of their milkshakes, which I stole from their instagram @burger.uk.london because I failed to photograph it myself. Surely that says something, right? It was just too yummy. I got the chocolate milkshake, which was filled with little chocolate pieces - the best addition to a milkshake since GBK! I've had milkshakes with chocolate pieces before, but this had to be the best one yet. I devoured it in less than 5 minutes for sure, I'd definitely order it to-go if I'm ever in Camden again. 10/10.
A few more shots I so graciously stole again from Burger UK's instagram page. This is what I struggle with when it comes to blogging/vlogging; you have to be constantly aware of the content you're producing, I tend to forget little shots here and there that don't seem like a priority at the time but later affects my work. I'm yet to find the right balance between creating content and living in the moment. I'm still new to this, so I tend to forget I'm blogging the experience, when I'm busy having fun.
Any-who, I thought I'd talk a bit about the interior design of the restaurant. One thing I make sure of when I decide on a restaurant is that it's cosy. I love to sit and chat for hours after a meal before heading off, or maybe dessert, and comfort is key. This visit was a surprise, so I had no knowledge of any of this. The restaurant itself is pretty small, however I enjoyed the intimate vibe it had going on, despite how busy it was. Due to it being so busy, we were seated at the far back on stools. It was rather uncomfortable, so I wasn't eager to stay super long after my meal. However, it was bearable. It definitely did not ruin my experience, I just would have preferred padded seating and back support (God, I sound old).
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Burger UK. The owner was so kind and friendly, which really boosted my experience. Whether you're in the mood for food, or a milkshake, or both, this cute shack style restaurant is a great pit stop when visiting Camden Town.
